Hello everyone,

I have noticed that at times, this forum has gotten out of hand and causes more feelings of ill will than those of support and compassion.  This must change.

From now on, I expect a few rules to be followed by anyone posting here.  Anyone that does not abide by the rules will be banned, and any posts that are not compliant will be erased and the thread will be locked.

Current Rules:

1.  Keep to the Point
Keep to the point of the thread.  Only post replies relating to the topic title.  If you want to start a new topic, create a new thread.  This will ultimately keep things organized, easier to find, hence being somewhat of a resource for people trying to find quick informaiton on BDD.  If I see a thread is getting off topic, it will be locked.

2. Show Respect to Others and Their Opinions
I do not care if you are delusional or not, if your delusions start tearing other people down--if your delusions make you irritable and snappy with other people...if you in any way take out aggressions on other members in this forum (including foul language), your posts will be erased.  If you continue to post flames after your initial post was erased, you will be BANNED.

3.  No Preaching
Preaching religion is forbidden.  It may be offensive, as not everyone is of the same religion.  This is best kept to another forum.

4. You're Banned/Your Fault
If your post was erased, locked, or you were banned, do NOT expect an explanation.  Everything you need to know is listed here, within the rules.

5. Feeling Rejected?  Think again!
This community consists of a diverse number of real people; if they do not have the time to write back, or feel unable to help you, do not assume that a lack of response has anything to do with you.  Advice is sometimes hard to give as it is always circumstantial on a person to person basis.  It may just be that nobody knows the exact answer to your problems, and to give you an answer would be speculation on their part.  If you are feeling rejected, do NOT blame others on the forum.  It is a feeling that you have, owe up to it, and look within yourself for the answers.  Don't rely on others actions to determine how you feel.  Everyone here wants help and wants to be helpful.  Ultimately, you determine how you feel by the way you think.  So start changing your mind set, and you will change the way you feel.

This forum is offered as support to sufferers.  It is not a place to ruin reputations, complain, have others confirm your delusions, or try to confirm others delusions for them.  I would appreciate it if we can all help one another through a cognitive behavioral approach...and also, insist that everyone take responsibility into their own hands, and realize that change on YOUR part is ESSENTIAL to recovery.  STOP THE COMPLAINTS;  If you have a complaint, it is time to MAKE A CHANGE YOURSELF.

6.  No RolePlaying
Only one user name should be registered by each poster.  Any additional user names will be deleted by BDDCentral moderators.

7.  Safety Is a Priority
Absolutely no discussions are allowed which include methods of committing suicide or homicide.  If you are feeling suicidal or homicidal, please seek immediate professional help.

8.  Material deemed inappropriate for and/or antithetical to the content specific support forum at BDDCentral is cause for account closure.

9. Discussions of things that are considered unlawful are prohibited.

But most importantly, PLEASE RESPECT one another.  THINK before you post.  Most people here are in a fragile state--DO NOT intentionally try to hurt another.  It could have dire consequences.

Happy posting,

Brit

Hi Lucia...wow, to think even Britney Spears has BDD.  What's this world coming to?Smiley  Number 3 doesn't mean people can't have faith in a higher power, it just means if people preach, I will have to erase the post.  Since everyone feels differently about religion, and it's a heated topic, it is best to keep preaching of it out of our discussions.

As for not writing back, I must admit, I've been very busy lately and must have missed the post.  I'm sorry about that.

People are allowed to vent here...it's a pretty open community.  But, I don't want people using it only as a means of keeping their disorder intact.  I want them to make an active effort at working towards healing...and not concentrate too much on negativity.

As for a book, we are going to concentrate on a smaller pamphlette for the time being.

Hope you are doing well and are having a great holiday,

Brit

Hey Brit  Cheesy
So glad to see this has been put up, i'm new here (3 days on here only) & have noticed & commented along with someone else that there's too much back biting, it does make you weary of posting incase it's taken the wrong way & someone snaps back @ you when you're just trying to help.

I know ppl are sensitive, but i think sometimes ppl have to be much more sensitive & not comment on other dislikes to make themselves feel better as this could be something that affects someone else very badly, therefore causing offense to someone else in order to make themselves feel better.

We are all different, have diff likes/dislikes & should accept this & not judge, we should accept the person for the person they are Wink

I look forward to getting to know you on here & thankyou very much for all your time & effort in putting this place together so that others with similar problems can share, help & hopefully gain peace of mind, body & soul & possibly find a cure for this terrible disease.

I'm fighting hard, sometimes it feels like everything's too much, other times it's better, i hope to be rid of this one day though  Wink

Much Love To You, Rami xxx

I think rule number 3 is really good and don't see anything wrong with it. You're allowed to have a religion and say you belong to it but preaching is a different thing... I know many forums have this rule so it's really nothing new.

In an effort to avoid confusion, here's a reminder..

Screen-names can also be inappropriate or unhelpful like "uglymonster" etc...  So we will encourage screen-name changes for them
